How do I know if he really loves me?

I was involved in a auto wreck a week ago. It has left me with a broken ankle and in bed all day. I have been talking to this man now for almost a year on and off. I cooked,cleaned, basically breathed for him. Now that I am forced to stay in bed,he is being so different. He gets jealous when I speak to anyone else but then tells me he just wants to be friends.I am so confused! HELP! Also he told me before one time that he can not except love and he doesnt know why. Am I wasting my younger years that I'll never get back? I never looked at it that way bc I love him,but now Im starting to question.
