Can you be a 3 octave soprano and sing well, but have problems singing R&B?

my inspiration has always been charlotte church,sarah brightman etc, and i can sing like that, but i have problems doing songs like Without You by Mariah Carey, i can do other types too, less operatic, but i cannot do full RnB, what should i do?
