Can I collect insurance for falling on my own property?

I slipped on ice on my front steps and did significant damage to my shoulder which will require surgery. I will be out from work for several months and even though my insurance through work covers most of the medical bills and I have partial disability options through work it will not be enough to maintain my bills. Am I able to make a claim for injuries and loss of work through my homeowners insurance?
